Veterans Benefits Administration Office
client: Dattner Architects
New York, New York
L-INES Photo documented the renovation of the Veterans Benefits Administration’s 4th-floor office at 201 Varick Street in Manhattan, designed by Dattner Architects. The project revitalized the historic Art Deco building, originally constructed in 1929 by exposing its signature mushroom columns and restoring full-height windows to enhance natural light and openness. A pilot window restoration program preserved the building's character while improving energy performance. The LEED Gold-certified renovation consolidated previously dispersed offices into a unified, modern workspace that honors both its federal mission and architectural heritage.
